The Iran-Contra Affair occurred during 1985-1987 dealing with the U.S selling weapons to Iran military to receive american hostages and money. They then used the money to support the rebels of Nicaragua to go against the Nicaragua's Sandinista Junta of National Reconstruction group after the ending of the Somoza family's 43-year reign. Congress prohibited the deal but the Reagan administration went through with it anyway.
